Don't go in the Red on Black Friday!

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
Will you be filling up your 'little red wagon' on November 26th?

Black Friday refers to the beginning of the period in which retailers go from being in the red (posting a loss on the books) to being in the black (turning a profit).

  1. Go in the red—good phrase. It means “赤字” in Chinese. It is same meaning as Chinese. By the way, who know the name of beans in the photo? (The red and black beans) I only know that beans have pretty name in Chinese—jequirity-bean. Usually, the lover give them to each other that express their yearning.

  3. Yes Grace,
Black Friday is a big shopping day, the beginning of Christmas shopping. But the word 'black' is an accounting term. It refers to 'being in the black' (having a positive amount of money) and not 'being in the red' (having a negative amount of money. When you are in the red, you are in debt.
