ReplyDeleteHere are some clues: Recommend is always followed by a gerund. Afford is always followed by an infinitive. Tried can be followed by either. Looking forward to- "to" is a preposition, so it is followed by a gerund. And stop can be followed by either, but here "to have" answers the question "why?" Infinitives are used to answer the question "why?"
